Rehearsal dates: Feb. 11- Mar 22 – Monday thru Friday from 6 pm – 10 pm with some Saturday & Sunday rehearsals. Specific days and times will be determined after casting is done.
Performance dates: Friday – Mar. 22 & 29 at 8 pm, Saturday – Mar. 23 & 30 at 8 pm with a possible 2 pm Sat. matinee (3/30) and a Thurs. evening (3/28)
About the Play: Post Civil War, 1867, a male teacher with a hidden secret finds work as a tutor to a lonely rancher’s nieces and nephews. The play deals with homosexuality in the 1860’s.
Casting/ Character Roles:
Mr. Stone – Age Range: 30’s-40’s, a rancher, a grumbling man of few words, has lived alone until his sister’s death when her children entered his life, knows he’s a homosexual but hides his feelings well
Mister Wonder – Age Range: 30’s – 40’s, a teacher, half Indian and half white, a disciplined man, keeps his body covered to hide the scars from a childhood incident, is afraid of his homosexuality and denies it completely
Mr. Hill –Age Range: mid 30’s – 50’s, a storekeeper, friendly, very well put together and always looks towards the future, takes a liking to Mrs. Gray
Mrs. Gray – Age Range: 30’s, African- American, a widow trying to make it on her own, very strong-willed, smitten with Mr. Hill
Becka – Age Range: 14-18 yrs. old, Mr. Stone’s niece, smart and impressionable
Mr. Hanson – Age Range: 20’s – 30’s, a horse smith, harsh and a hard worker, dislikes the presence of Mr. Wonder
