THE MOUNTAINTOP

THE MOUNTAINTOP
Written by Katori Hall

Presented by CityRep, The Pollard Theatre and The Poteet Theatre

“Crackles with theatricality and a humanity more moving than sainthood.”

In a remarkable artistic collaboration, three of Oklahoma’s leading theatres CityRep, The Pollard Theatre and The Poteet Theatre join forces to present the Oklahoma professional premiere of The Mountaintop, by Katori Hall. Winner of the distinguished Olivier Award (London’s Tony) for Best New Play. The Mountaintop is a vivid and bold re-imagining of the last night in the historic life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Set in the now infamous Lorraine Motel, Dr. King has an unexpected visitor who challenges him to face his own humanity, as well as the fate of our country. Hailed as “daring, rousing and provocative” and “soul stirring”, The Mountaintop is a spiritual march through the soul of a great man and the heart of a changing nation.

Following its recent London and Broadway success, CityRep, The Pollard Theatre Company and Poteet Theatre are proud to present the Oklahoma Professional Premiere of this provocative play.
Featured in the production is The Pollard Theatre’s Artistic Director W. Jerome Stevenson as Dr. Martin Luther Jr. and JuNene K. as Camae.

The production is Directed by Rene Moreno, Set Design by Ben Hall, Costume Design by Michael James, Lighting Design by Adam Chamberlin, Sound Design by Steve Emerson, Properties Design by Timothy Stewart. The Production Stage Manager is Steve Emerson.

THE MOUNTAINTOP will be presented first in the Freede Little Theatre at The Civic Center Music Hall located at 201 N Walker Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73102 (February 6th through February 15th), then at The Pollard Theatre at 120 West Harrison Avenue, Guthrie, OK 73044 (February 20th through February 28th.
